Install VLC player from Ubuntu 10.04 Terminal command lines Video

VLC media player is a free media players which can play many popular video and music file formats like mp4, avi, wmv, mp3, ogg, wav, wmv, wma, and a lot more. VLC  is also very light on system resources, so it won’t slow down your computer while it is playing a video or song.

Log in with your administrator root user account which is the first account you made when you installed Ubuntu 10.04. Make sure no other programs like Synaptic package manager, or Ubuntu software Center are open during the VLC media player inatall.

To open terminal, go to applicaitions, accessories, and terminal.

Type these commands in your Terminal Command Prompt.

sudo apt-get update

(admin root user password)

sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc

VLC media player is located in your application’s media submenu.

Congratulations, now you can play your favourite media files like movies, cds, mp3s, wmas, ogg, etc in Videolan’s media player.
